Decades-old U.S. flag travels to combat zones

A combat brigade in southern Afghanistan has for the past nine months been carrying a 45-year-old flag that belongs to a Vietnam War veteran whose son was carrying it in Iraq in 2005 when he was killed. The flag has made multiple trips to Iraq and Afghanistan, has traveled to Kuwait and has been carried by each of the four main military branches.
