Dietitian debunks health claims about juice cleanses

Juice cleanses may not be harmful, but they also may not be helpful, writes New York City-based registered dietitian Tamara Duker Freuman. Juice cleanses do not detoxify the body or support optimal organ function and make false claims about the health value of allowing the gut to rest from its work of digesting food, she notes.
