The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT will distribute awards ranging from $200,000 to $400,000 to health information technology groups that are in the process of creating "rules of the road" for health information exchange. The awards will enable the agency to "work collaboratively with entities already involved in governance of health information exchange to encourage the continued development and adoption of policies, interoperability requirements and business practices that will increase the ease of electronic health information exchange," wrote National Coordinator Dr. Farzad Mostashari in a blog post. The application deadline is Feb. 4.
