Tablets triumph on Christmas Day

Christmas Day saw 17.4 million tablet device activations, more than doubling the number of devices from a year before, according to mobile ad and analytics firm Flurry. Tablets also saw more activations than smartphones this year, the firm reports. In other measures, non-Apple tablets gained in popularity on the iPad, while Christmas Day saw a record number of applications downloads.
