How to prevent pilot over-reliance on automation systems

Eric Geiselman, a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, says that avionics interfaces designed to take advantage of data and logic could prevent pilots from becoming dependent on automation systems. Geiselman says that he and his team have designed a prototype of a system that displays actions made by the pilot and co-pilot, keeping them aware of each other's actions.
