How women business owners are powering the economy

It has been a quarter of a century since the passage of the Women's Business Ownership Act of 1988, which marked a crucial step forward for women business owners. Data released in 2011 indicated there were about 8 million women-owned ventures in the U.S., and the U.S. Small Business Administration is helping them access the financing they need. SBA loans are three to five times more likely to go to women than other loans are, said SBA's Natalia Olson-Urtecho, citing Urban Institute data.
