Hundreds of thousands of PCs held hostage by Cryptolocker

As many as a quarter of a million PCs are on lockdown thanks to a pernicious piece of ransomware that has been infecting computers across the world since at least September. The malware, known as Cryptolocker, delivers its payload via e-mail disguised as a PDF file, and once installed forces its victims to pay hundreds of dollars to regain control of their machines.
