Analysis: Agencies consider buying search engine marketers

Agencies that previously outsourced their search engine marketing function may seek to acquire independent SEM companies such as Impaqt, Fathom and possibly even DoubleClick, industry watchers say. The purchase of iProspect by the Aegis Group may add weight to speculation that with the increasing importance of search-based advertising, agencies will need expert help in-house to make the most of it.
