Alternatives revealed as BPA safety concerns grow

As concerns mount over the safety of bisphenol A, consultancy firm Nexant issued a list of several BPA-free alternatives that includes high-density polyethylene, metallocene polypropylene and polyethylene naphthalate. Despite assurances from the chemical sector about the safety of BPA, its use in the manufacture of food containers and bottles has been banned in Minnesota, with several states reportedly mulling similar measures.
