The past decade ushered in seismic changes to the TV landscape, with many cable networks producing top-quality original programming that, collectively, turned millions of eyeballs from the traditional broadcast shows to a new, more energetic platform, according to this story. "At the broadcast networks, which saw their overall numbers drop by around 8 million viewers, it was 10 years of ratings decline," Robert Bianco writes. "Yet if those viewers were lost to broadcast, they were found by cable."
