California county, districts team up for autism center

In partnership with a number of local school districts, education officials in California's San Bernardino County plan to open an early-intervention autism center to identify students ages 2 to 7 who may have autism. In addition to helping districts assess students for the disorder, the center will also provide treatment and services. "The sooner you get intervention with autism, the better progress the student makes," one district's superintendent said.
