Concerns continue to mount regarding risks of sovereign debt

Bankers' attention is shifting from mortgage and corporate risks to managing the risk that a country, such as Greece or Dubai, United Arab Emirates, might default. Some bankers are considering making provisions for sovereign-debt risks similar to those made for corporate or emerging-market risks. Auditors said the effects of sovereign-debt risks in 2009 are minimal, but concerns are mounting.
