Fed proposes "term deposits" for banks to soak up liquidity

The Federal Reserve proposed offering banks the opportunity to park their money at the central bank in "term deposits," which would pay interest. The move would help the Fed soak up some of the liquidity it poured into the system. The central bank said the effort "has no implications for monetary-policy decisions in the near term."
