Program helps Pa. teachers master specific grades, content

Teachers in northeastern Pennsylvania will have some help meeting a federal mandate that they be highly qualified in the subjects and grades they teach. A $2.9 million grant from the state Department of Education's Eligible Partnerships Postsecondary Grant Program will pay for 232 teachers to complete a yearlong program at Wilkes University designed to prepare them for required tests. The free program will provide grade-specific content lessons and teaching methods.
