San Jose restarts sewer project plagued by lawsuit

San Jose, Calif., plans to move ahead with a sewer project that has been mired in lawsuits for several years. The city agreed to pay a general contractor $3 million in 2008, three years after river water flooded digging equipment during construction. The remaining Caltrans funding should cover the cost of designing and building a new sewer line under Highway 87, city officials say.
