Translation devices aid Ohio public safety agencies

Police and fire departments are among the Cincinnati-area government agencies using translation devices to interact with residents who do not speak English. The nonprofit Latino Educational Assimilation Resource Network provided the devices -- worth about $1,200 each -- which can be used to translate speech into other languages and includes a loudspeaker feature for broadcasting instructions in foreign languages.
