Photo-sharing site Flickr used to be the hottest photo property on the Web, but in recent months it has lost that title to the socially savvy mobile photo-sharing tool Instagram. Former Flickr engineer Kellan Elliott-McCrea blames Flickr owner Yahoo! for refusing to allow the site to implement Twitter-based sharing features, and says the company rested on its laurels rather than moving quickly to incorporate new social media features. "We fell into the trap of thinking like an incumbent," he says.
