Coalition touts value of rail projects to keep Calif. competitive

Projects such as BNSF's Southern California International Gateway plan are crucial to maintain Southern California's role as a key hub for international trade, particularly once the Panama Canal expansion is complete, according to the Jobs 1st Alliance. BNSF and Union Pacific are moving ahead with their plans to help the region stay ahead. "To protect these jobs, we need to get these projects completed," said Jobs 1st Alliance President Wally Baker.
