NBCT: Using politics to inform lessons on dialogue

National Board Certified Teacher Bill Ferriter suggests a lesson in which students learn about competitive and collaborative dialogue by observing an exchange during a recent Republican presidential debate. He asks students to evaluate the differences between the heated exchange between former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry and the collaborative nature of a conversation among a group of students he videotaped.
