Starbucks' success proves a perk for small coffee roaster

Pat and John Curry weren't deterred from starting their Augusta, Ga.-based specialty coffee roasting company by the size of giant rivals such as Starbucks. The chains exposed consumers to gourmet coffee and increased demand, which made their business possible. "Without them raising awareness about specialty coffee, we probably wouldn’t be a viable business today," Pat Curry said.
