Fiat comment sparks a controversy over electric-vehicle design

Fiat is showing some swagger in advance of their next Super Bowl appearance, targeting Volkswagen owners to switch brands and making fun of the all-electric Nissan Leaf's body design. A low-level controversy erupted at the Los Angeles Auto Show when executives from Fiat and Nissan traded jabs over the look and functionality of their respective electric vehicles -- with each calling the other's design a form of "pollution." Fiat is also offering $1,000 rebates to buyers who switch from a VW to a Fiat or Chrysler.
