News may be going digital -- but not on the weekends

Research shows that young news consumers have mostly embraced digital platforms for receiving news, but there may be a distinction between preferences in weekday and weekend reading. Experience at two leading newspapers and research suggests that readers may prefer the more relaxed reading experience of print on the weekends. Thus, newspapers would be well advised on their websites to make it easier for visitors to find their way to weekend print subscription options, writes Lynne Brennen, principal at the U.S.-based New Leaf Media.
