Responsive design is a good site option for many, not all, marketers

More than half of U.S. mobile users will have smartphones a year from now, eMarketer predicts, so responsive design -- which automatically adjusts websites to fit the screen of the user's device -- will take on new importance in the coming year. However, it isn't necessarily the best solution for all marketers, as desktop and mobile site visitors may have different needs that should also be taken into account, meaning that a separate mobile-optimized site could be a better option, Raina Probst and Debbie Spalding write.
