New Minn. senators bolster marriage amendment foes

The election of two DFL state senators in Minnesota who oppose a constitutional amendment to ban marriage for gays and lesbians makes it less likely that the question will appear on the November 2006 ballot. The amendment has been blocked for the past two years in the DFL-controlled Senate, despite being approved to go to voters by the GOP-controlled House.
