African Union bans Guinea after military coup

Following a military coup in Guinea in the wake of the death of President Lansana Conte -- who himself took power by way of military coup -- the African Union moved to suspend Guinea's membership. Despite international outcry over the coup, Guinea's population supports the army's move, which comes after years of misrule.
