California's message to drivers: no more texting

California has become the sixth state to ban text messaging while driving. The law takes effect Jan. 1 and is a continuation of legislation passed in July to crack down on unsafe use of cell phone technology while operating vehicles in motion. Washington, Alaska, Louisiana, Minnesota and New Jersey also have anti-texting laws on the books.
