Food programs might fight obesity as well as hunger

Food-assistance programs are expected to grow during the downturn, and some nutrition advocates are hoping efforts to ease hunger will help target obesity as well. Public-health advocates say they hope the new administration will look at obesity and hunger as two sides of the same nutritional problem and use food-assistance programs to improve the way poor Americans eat in a holistic way. Agriculture Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack says he'll put "nutrition at the center of all food-assistance programs."
