National Board Certification encouraged to promote quality teaching

While it is difficult to say exactly what makes a teacher great, Ohio teachers and education officials say the state has supported training and other professional development programs, including National Board Certification. The state now has about 3,000 nationally certified teachers, and offers $2,200 toward application fees.
