Some Georgia lawmakers pledge support for restoring NBCT bonuses

During their next legislative session, a number of Georgia legislators say, they will work to restore a 10% salary supplement for more than 2,000 National Board Certified Teachers. The state cited budget woes when it eliminated the supplements promised to NBCTs, prompting a lawsuit from a state teachers union. "Legally, it is an obligation. ... Everybody we obligated it to needs to be paid," one lawmaker says.
