Unmarried couples ask for federal benefits

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management is considering offering benefits to unmarried heterosexual couples who are in the Foreign Service. This year, some benefits were extended for same-sex partners who are federal employees. Some members of Congress say they oppose benefits for gay or unmarried couples.
