Missouri elementary students try out new fruits, veggies

Elementary students in Springfield, Mo., had snow peas, blood oranges and avocados for snacks this month as the school district participated in the federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. School nutrition services staff prepared the portions and delivered them to the classrooms, giving children a chance to try fruits and vegetables they may not have heard of before.
