New Elpida memories use less power, improve battery life

Elpida is sampling four-gigabit, DDR3 memory devices for mobile devices that it says require half the power needed for DDR2 memories and can improve battery capacity and life. The low-power random-access memory, aimed at use in smartphones and tablet computers, is set to go into volume production in the new year.
