N.C. district gives students a leg up with language immersion

A North Carolina school district has launched language-immersion programs, including one in which students expand their Spanish-literacy skills through social studies and another in which students learn Mandarin and Spanish simultaneously. The district has expanded the program, which begins for some students in elementary schools, to middle schools.
