British families dissuaded from taking trips during school year

To curb the number of truancies, the British government may levy fines of up to 100 pounds on families that take vacations during the school term without the permission of the head teacher. The Association of British Travel Agents is reminding its members to inform parents that the law allows only 10 days' absence from school a year.
