FDA approves bipolar depression drug

The FDA yesterday gave its approval to Eli Lilly's Symbyax, a drug used to treat the depressive phase of bipolar disorder. Symbyax combines the active ingredients of Prozac and Zyprexa, two other drugs used separately for treating the manic stages of bipolar disorder, but without triggering the manic phase.
