Report: FDA will ban ephedra

The Wall Street Journal is reporting the Food and Drug Administration will ban the herbal weight-loss supplement, which accounts for 7% of dietary supplement sales, marking the first time the FDA has decided to ban a dietary supplement. Many retailers stopped selling ephedra when it became the alleged cause of a few high-profile deaths. One nutritional supplement maker said the ban would be "devastating;" the FDA did not comment.
