Starbucks, Taco Bell offer lighter options in time for the new year

Quickservice chains such as Taco Bell, Starbucks and Jack in the Box are rolling out lighter fare in time for the wave of dieting that hits the U.S. at the beginning of each new year. Jack in the Box will offer grilled chicken strips with teriyaki dipping sauce and a chicken fajita pita made with whole-grain bread beginning Thursday. Starbucks is emphasizing its "skinny" latte options. And Taco Bell launches a "Fresco menu" today that features nine items with 350 calories or fewer and between four and eight grams of fat.
