Casio bets the farm on product launches

To compete with price-slashing rivals, Casio Computer aims to replace half of its products in mid-2009. "For us as a manufacturer, whether conditions are good or bad is all decided by our products, and our strategy is to make sure as many of them as possible are new," says President Kazuo Kashio. One of his mottos is "from zero to one" -- creating a device from scratch, such as the company's initial product: a 1957 electronic calculator.
