Analysts look ahead to medical-device industry in 2010

Although economic improvements and the imminent health care overhaul could benefit the medical-device industry in 2010, the sector will still have to deal with various challenges such as stricter FDA regulations, pricing pressure from hospitals and the proposed $2 billion in annual taxes under the health reform bill, analysts say. They also predict the opportunities offered by less-invasive cardiac pumps and valves could boost mergers and acquisitions next year.
