Champagne prices fall in France

The global recession is forcing Champagne makers in France to slash prices, with some bottles selling for as little as $14. Laurent-Perrier is offering its Jeanmaire brand at that price, while Boizel Chanoine is selling Champagne for only a few dollars more. Champagne makers are seeing stiffer competition from sparkling wines, and those companies that haven't dropped their prices have seen their sales fall.
