In-demand skills for IT professionals in 2010

Fewer than one in five IT executives expect to add jobs in 2010, according to a Computerworld survey, so those workers who do land new positions must have in-demand skills, Mary Brandel writes. "Among companies that plan to hire, the top reason for doing so is to meet demand for new systems and projects," she writes, so programming and application-development skills are key. Other desirable areas of expertise include project management, networking skills and security skills.
