Higher food safety standards sought for schools

Scientists and food safety experts are urging the U.S. government to raise schools' food safety standards, many of which have fallen behind those of the food industry. In updating the Child Nutrition Act, Congress aims to embrace some of the food industry's best practices, such as moving faster on recalls, killing pathogens at farms and adopting stronger testing requirements.
