Texting-while-driving, cigarette-safety laws to take effect in 2010

New Hampshire, Illinois and Oregon on Friday are set to implement new laws that prohibit motorists from texting while driving, joining the ranks of states with measures aimed at curbing the risk of cell phone use to road safety. Florida, Michigan and 10 other states next year also are scheduled to impose new policies that require tougher fire-hazard standards for cigarettes.
