Protesters block Canadian railway, disrupt propane supplies

Members of Aamjiwnaang First Nation, an Aboriginal group in Canada, protesting at Canadian National Railway's spur line, has disrupted shipments of propane, butane and other petrochemical products. "The blockade is impacting propane supplies to points east in Ontario into Quebec and as far away as Atlantic Canada," said Canadian Propane Association's CEO Jim Facette. The group said CNR's rail line, which passes through First Nation properties, is illegal, but the company said it has title to the land and that it complies with Transport Canada's environmental standards on chemical shipments.
