Shale activity in the U.S. has helped drive economic growth and increase exports in the chemical industry, according to a report by the American Chemistry Council. The trade group expects chemical production in the U.S. to rise almost 25% by 2018. "American chemistry is reemerging as a growth industry," said Kevin Swift, the group's chief economist. "We're seeing growing end-use markets; strengthening employment; surging exports; and an influx of tremendous capital investment."
