Effective date approaches for Calif. trans-protection law

California public schools are preparing for a transgender-student-protection law set to take effect Wednesday, including by scheduling sensitivity training for coaches, reviewing locker-room layouts and revising dress codes. A coalition seeking to repeal the law is waiting to find out whether it has submitted enough valid signatures to put the issues before voters in the fall.
