The U.S. Supreme Court's decision not to take up a challenge to state laws governing Internet sales tax collection sent a message to Congress that it must pass a federal law that would allow states to collect sales taxes on e-commerce sales, writes Adam Ifshin, president and CEO of DLC Management and an ICSC trustee. Legislation is moving forward in Congress, but it will require courage and stamina to push it across the finish line. Passing an online sales tax could translate into "billions in GDP growth, millions of new jobs and finally a level playing field for all retailers," he writes.
