N.J. hospital's cath lab founder becomes its first patient after suffering heart attack

A major force behind the establishment of a cardiac catherization laboratory at the Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, N.J., Dr. K. George Younan also became its first patient after awakening with heart attack symptoms last fall. Younan called his cardiologist twin sons for help and one of them, Shaddy, determined he would have to perform the procedure rather than risk the time it would take to call in another doctor. "I worked so many years building a program at this incredible hospital -- my hospital -- and invested so much into my son's future as well, and that morning it all came together to save my life," said the elder Younan, Bayshore's past medical staff president.
