Plantar fasciitis can be treated using stem cell therapy, according to scientists. The treatment for the painful inflammation of the plantar fascia, a connective tissue along the sole of the foot, involves extracting adult stem cells from bone marrow, amniotic material or fat and injecting them back to the patient to stimulate tissue growth. The treatment is a low risk, outpatient alternative to corrective surgery.
