China to levy export taxes on grains in 2008

China's Ministry of Finance said it will levy an export tax of 5% to 25% on dozens of grains, including wheat, rice, corn and soybeans, as well grain products in 2008. The move, which comes only a week after the country did away with tax rebates on grain exports, appears to be a strategy to reduce soaring domestic prices.
